Washington, DC hot spots

Squeezed in alot of sites in the city, some off the beaten path. I think Busboys and Poets was a decently memorable night. Very eclectic venue for an incredible jazz harpist. It was part of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival going on that week and the spirit was so alive in that room. He was so inspiring that I want to learn to play the jazz harp!

Spent a beautiful Fall day at the National Archives and the National Gallery of Art with Brett and my dad. Papa got in trouble for touching a Monet painting (or was it a Van Gogh!). yikes. Though definitely a nice day when I get to spend it with my father and hubby surrounded by art and history. My favorite paintings were from this artist who depicted life through a series of landscapes. He had a story for each 3 phases of life. Too bad I don't remember who the artist was.

National Air & Space Museum Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center This is really located in Chantilly, VA near Dulles airport. Brett's favorite Smithsonian museum.

The National Mall

National Portrait Gallery This is my favorite Smithsonian museum. Located next to lively Chinatown.

National Gallery of Art Also one of my favorite museums and Brett's too.

The National Archives Museum Another incredible museum and research center we learned alot from.

The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden What a perfect day to visit the Gardens.

DuPont Circle Hung out here with my sister and went shopping, sipped coffee and people watched.

Mansion on O Street Intriguing place to visit. We had a our PBS Christmas party here back in the 90's. Came back to show Brett. A magical place.

Duke Ellington Jazz Festival

Named after Langston Hughes, this is by far the most hip hangout, bookstore, event venue and place to eat Busboys and Poets

Entertaining ourselves while we wait.

Geekin' out at Busboy and Poets

THE most incredible jazz harpist Jazz Harpist Edmar Castaneda Mezmerizing performance. I am inspired to learn to play.

Georgetown Historic District
