Mt. Vernon

I can count a handful of times I've been to Mt. Vernon, George Washington's Estate and Gardens. Each time I learn something new. This was a special visit though with Sabrina. This is a very dog friendly town so Sabrina saw alot of sites. I used to live pretty close to Mt. Vernon, in Alexandria, a special town right off the Potomac.

Mt. Vernon is about 8,000 acres of five farms, its own dock, lots of livestock and forests of trees and herbal plants used for medicine. Just a perfect fall day on the Potomac, blue sunny skies in the 70's. Brett took Sabrina closeup to all the animals, whether she liked it or not. He somehow thinks she's fascinated by pigs sleeping in their slop. She was more after the squirrels running all over the property. Spent all day enjoying the views and sites and learning about Washington the practical man he was. He designed Mt. Vernon to be a self-contained community. Nothing was purchased that could be produced on site. Though he had the vision for Mt. Vernon, it took a workforce of slaves to maintain his vision.
